Five cars and one family car ?

Environmentalists are to be shocked by this expression, but indeed, if four career woman and one manager are to share one family, then that takes five cars on the parking. One if it would be more than pleasant to share one car for family outings, than that takes at least one SUV or mobil home -- or a sardine-like feeling in one of the other cars. But also for this point a harem-like family could lead to a more environmental-friendly advantage of scale. When living close to a railway station, the search for career jobs could be limited to companies with railroad proximity. And then one common family car plus one shared little car for outbound city shopping could be the solution for this situation.

of course, with Smart cars, parking space can be reduced by almost half.

Depending on the number of people you plan on toting all together anywhere. It might make more sense to find 2 large and 1 small vehicles.

Look at the Dugger family in Arkansas, 2 adults and 16 children (at last count). They have a small bus, a large passenger van, and a car for their every day use. They took a cross country driving trip and it STILL took a large RV, a cargo van, and a full cargo trailer to haul them and their stuff.

If you have multiple drivers, taking 2 vehicles for a full family outing is not a terrible idea. Having a 5-7 passenger vehicle works well for smaller trips. Think about if you have 5 adults and say 10 kids thats 15 people, a passenger van works for all together. BUT how often will you be going on long trips all together. I would think taking 2 vehicles to the same place (such as church) wouldnt be too much of a hassle, and you arent going to want to take 10 kids grocery shopping, thats best left to 2-3 adults and older children. I would recomend (for a 15-17 person family) that a large passenger van with removable seats and a minivan with removable seats and a 5-7 passenger car should be sufficient.

for the adults, work out carpools. My family got through 2 years with 2 working adults and a high schooler and a grade schooler (and all the accompnying activities), with 1 car. My mom was FANTASTIC at scheduling. I learned to use public transportation and walked and rode my bike a lot. But it is possible.
